Nicolas Maigret – System Introspection

Nicolas Maigret – System Introspection

We did a show with ‘Art of Failure’ last month in New York at Devotion Gallery. Nicolas performed his noise piece, ‘System Introspection’ for the opening. The concert was based on a concrete exploration of binary code and its intrinsic qualities (structure, logic, rhythm, redundancy, compression) immediately returned in the form of visual and sound flows.

Bartholomäus Traubeck – YEARS

Bartholomäus Traubeck – YEARS

A tree’s year rings are analysed for their strength, thickness and rate of growth. This data serves as basis for a generative process that outputs piano music based on the year ring data. Those are analyzed for their thickness and growth rate and are then mapped to a scale which is again defined by the overall appearance of the wood (ranging from dark to light and from strong texture to light texture). The foundation for the music is certainly found in the defined ruleset of programming and hardware setup, but the data acquired from every tree interprets this ruleset very differently.

Come visit Gray Area this January for the opening of his first solo exhibition in SF.

Adaledge – Lionest

Two of my favorite artists just recently got together to collaborate on this stunning A/V piece. Earlier this summer our Brooklyn friends at Triple Down put out Adaledge’s latest record, Vintage Feelings; a unique assemblage of polymetric analog IDM tunes. Ecuadorian multimedia artist, Daniel Lofredo Rota and I have worked together in the past, so when I found out that Adaledge and Daniel paired up I couldn’t wait to see what they came up with.
